My 1936 Ford Tudor

By Dennis Catania

I purchased my 1936 Ford Tudor in the Soo from Rheal Bellerive in 2002. It was in beautiful shape but it had a few problems like overheating. During the restoration, I removed the spare tire from the back of the car and had to make new bumper brackets and a licence plate holder. A better cooling system was installed and the engine was detailed. New door sills were also installed.
The original restoration took 4 years. Rheal Bellerive and a body man by the name of Mr. Spooner did most of the work. I had Mark Pavelich do a lot of the engine work. I replaced the front seats and Mark changed the gears in the rear end and installed a neoprene gas tank. My Ford has a 327 cubic inch engine and has about 320 hp.
The colour on my car is a Ford grabber blue. Because this vehicle was already painted this colour when I purchased it, I am not sure who is responsible for painting it but they did an excellent job.
This car is an automatic, is really fun to drive and gets fairly good gas mileage. I attend local car shows as well as driving my car to the ones in Cheboygan and Sault, Michigan. In Cheboygan, I won “Best of Show.” Last summer, I took it out about six times. It is a privilege and a lot fun to be part of this rare breed of classic car owners.
