Algoma Farmers Market |
September 2007 |
The Algoma Farmers Market is a great place to get more than just fresh local fruits and vegetables. Fran Edwards (image 9058) along with her husband Grover have a variety of preserves, baking and gourds. Bill Stadnyk (image 9068) has St. Joes Island maple syrup, some of which is in some beautiful and unique glass jars. Mary Eaton (image 9087) has a variety of honey, beeswax, candles, soap, skin cream and herbs. Allie (image 9099) along with her partner Kate operate "Beauty by Nature". Their beauty products are all natural and contain mostly locally grown and produced ingredients- great for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
Come winter, the market moves from it's summer home at the Bondar Pavillion to it's indoor location at the Wellington Square Mall - open on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Other vendors you may find there might include John Adams with weaving and jewellery; Susan Wilding with baking, preserves, sewing and crafts; Jane and Art Darlow with fudge, preserves, sewing and crafts; Leslie Preston with baking, chutneys, jellies, jams, and crafts; Tuula Valkonen with some baking, pastries, and breads; Richard and Elizabeth Powe with wood working and crochet work; and Denise and Robert Martell with their crafts made from Alpaca wool. There are many other vendors too.
